Ethiopian Reinsurance S.C. (Ethio-Re) participated in the Ethiopia Finance Forum 2026, held from September 29 to October 1, 2026, at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum in Addis Ababa.
The three-day forum brought together stakeholders and professionals from Ethiopia’s financial sector, providing a platform for industry dialogue, knowledge exchange, networking and engagement on key developments shaping the country’s financial and insurance sectors.
Through its exhibition, executive participation and technical presentation, Ethio-Re highlighted the importance of insurance and reinsurance in supporting financial resilience, market development and sustainable economic growth.
Day One: Engaging with Stakeholders and Showcasing Ethio-Re
On the opening day, Dr. Fikru Tsegaye, Executive Officer – Strategy & Business Development, represented Ethio-Re at the exhibition and engaged with senior government officials, financial-sector leaders, insurance professionals and other stakeholders visiting the Ethio-Re booth.
Dr. Fikru introduced visitors to Ethio-Re’s institutional profile, strategic direction, reinsurance capabilities and contribution to Ethiopia’s insurance and financial ecosystem.
The exhibition also provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with stakeholders and share information on Ethio-Re’s role as a leading reinsurance institution and its growing engagement across the African market.
Day Two: CEO Contributes to High-Level Insurance Sector Dialogue
The second day featured high-level participation by Mr. Netsanet Lemessa Gurara, Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Reinsurance S.C., who participated as a panelist in a key discussion at the forum.
The discussion focused on the evolving landscape of Ethiopia’s insurance industry and the proposed establishment of the Ethiopian Insurance Regulatory Commission (EIRC).
The dialogue highlighted the importance of a modern and effective regulatory framework in strengthening supervision, consumer protection, market development, sound governance and capital formation within the insurance sector.
Mr. Netsanet contributed Ethio-Re’s perspective to the discussion, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among regulators, insurers, reinsurers and other industry stakeholders in supporting the sustainable development and resilience of Ethiopia’s insurance market.
Day Three: Sharing Knowledge on Reinsurance
On the third day, Dr. Fikru Tsegaye, Executive Officer – Strategy & Business Development, delivered a presentation at the Ethio-Re exhibition booth.
The presentation provided an overview of what reinsurance is, why it matters, and its contribution to the national economy, while explaining the role of reinsurance in supporting insurers through risk-sharing and capacity enhancement.
